We have decided to take a new path for our family. We are selling everything we own and traveling the U.S.A in a 5th wheel. SAY WHAT? I know, right? Moving our family of 7 from 1700 sq. ft. to 430 sq. ft. 😮
Let me back up and tell you the whole story.
Last year, we fixed up our house so we could sell it and build a brand new home that was 700 sq. ft. larger. We were totally stoked. We had our lot picked, our house plan picked, and our finishes picked. We were ready to move forward. Or were we? As the process with the mortgage company was moving forward, the cost of the house kept going up. We were approved for that amount, but we wanted to keep our mortgage within a reasonable range (like the lesser the better). I grew more and more uncomfortable with the process. We ultimately decided to just wait. We were content where we were. Plus, I had applied with the SGPD and was really hoping to get hired. I wasn't healed enough from my foot surgery to complete the physical, so I did not get the job.
Early this year, I began to feel more and more, that we aren't supposed to be living here in St. George. How can that be? We have a house here! We have a successful business here! But, I would find myself searching for houses and law enforcement jobs elsewhere. In March, I drove with my cousin to Tennessee to her new house. I got to see parts of the country I had never seen before. From there, I went to North Carolina to visit my sister. Done. I was in love.
Dan was not having any of my suggestions of places to move. He likes everything about where we live.
One morning I got the strongest impression that we are to sell everything, buy a 5th wheel and travel with our kids. It will give Dan a year of being a full time dad. (He has worked so hard with growing the two businesses we had, that he has missed so much. Father/son camp outs, day hikes, bike rides, recitals, family camping, vacations, birthdays, etc.) I told Dan later that day and took him to go look at some 5th wheels. He thought I was nuts. Let's be real here; I am. All day, he just kept going on and on about how crazy I am. The next day he was on board.
This was about two months ago. In the meantime, we have put our wheels into motion. We picked our 5th wheel https://www.jayco.com/tools/archive/2015-eagle-premier/375bhfs/ , we've picked our truck http://www.stephenwadechryslerjeepdodge.com/new-car-inventory/detail/New-2017-Ram-3500-Big-Horn-4x4-Crew-Cab-8'-Box/629/3C63RRHL7HG697090, we've started a list of furniture we are keeping vs. selling, packing, and getting the house ready for sale.
I am super excited about this new chapter in our lives. Dan is excited, but scared. Khydan (16) doesn't want to go at all. Kamdan (14) is apprehensive, Kezedan (12) is neutral, Olivia (9) is really excited, and Amelia (8) is really excited.
Here's to a new, less stressful life! 🍻
We are planning to be on the road in March of 2018!
